Myelin is a lipid- and protein-rich substance forming the insulating sheath around axons, essential for proper nervous system function. Demyelination—the loss of this sheath—impairs nerve signal conduction, leading to deficits in sensation, movement, and cognition. While no cure exists for demyelinating diseases, myelin repair remains an active research field. This kit enables sensitive localization and visualization of myelin fibers. The PAS counterstain provides color contrast, highlighting morphological features significant in tissue, offering a fast and reliable way to assess demyelination.
