Hito NeuronMyelinStain™ Kit is based on the Luxol Fast Blue and Cresyl Echt Violet staining method. Supplied in a ready-to-use format, the kit provides high-quality, rapid staining of myelin and myelinated axons as well as neurons on paraffin or frozen sections. Note: Solution-1 in the Hito NeuronMyelinStain™ Kit contains alcohol, which is flammable. Because international shipping of hazardous materials can be costly and subject to lengthy customs clearance, a PreKit version is available. Customers may source absolute alcohol locally and add it to the PreKit (Solution-1 Stock Solution) for fast and safe usage.

Myelin is a substance rich in lipids and proteins that forms a layer, the myelin sheath, around only the axon of a neuron and acts as insulation. It is essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system. Demyelination is the loss of the myelin sheath insulating the nerves. This impairs the conduction of signals in the affected nerves, causing impairment in sensation, movement, and cognition. Currently no cure exists for demyelinating diseases and myelin repair is an active research field.
